Insurance-based investment policies

You can submit the following orders and make the following changes:

  • start regular saving or make one-time investments,
  • change your regular savings amount,
  • changing the allocation of your accrued savings and future savings,
  • withdraw funds.

All of these orders or changes cannot be made to all policies. If a functionality is not visible, the order or change is not possible in your policy.

Where can I see what type of investments can I include in my policy?

Select your insurance policy details and click “Edit the savings allocation” in our Insurance self-service. By clicking “Add an investment alternative” you can view the available investments and switch and add them.

You can also view the investment baskets that can be included in unit-linked insurance policies on the Unit values of investment baskets page (in Finnish). You can view the funds that can be included in unit-linked insurance policies on the Funds for customers with unit-linked insurance (in Finnish).

Where can I see the changes in the value of my investments?

You can see the changes in the value of your investments by clicking “Performance” in the basic information on your policy.

Where can I see the fees charged for investment alternatives?

You can see the fees charged for investment alternatives in the savings allocation view by clicking the name of the investment alternative. You can see a summary of your costs on the Transactions page.

How can I lock an investment alternative when changing the allocation of my savings?

The investment is locked automatically unless you change the percentage. For example, if the current share of Yield Basket is “35.89” and you want lock it, the new share has to be the same, “35.89”.

Why can’t I submit orders concerning my policy?

If you have submitted an order in the past few days, it will prevent you from making certain changes.  In this case you can see this text in the Insurance self-service: “You can make changes only after the prices of investments have been updated. This takes about 1–3 banking days.”

This could be because of an additional payment, a withdrawal or execution of a fund switch. The insurance system is processing the policy, and no changes to the policy can be made during that time (1-2 banking days).

How are the prices determined when switching investments and making withdrawals?

We execute switching of investments within your policy and withdrawals in accordance with the insurance terms and conditions without undue delay. Changes executed before 14.00 will be calculated using the current day's value. Orders submitted during weekends and holidays will mainly be executed at the value of the next banking day. The customers can see the changes after execution mainly with a delay of 2–3 days, depending on investment alternatives.

When are the funds’ and the investment baskets’ values updated?

The values of investment alternatives and the policy are updated in online services according to the schedules of different channels. Fund values are mainly updated using the current day's value during the evening, and the investment baskets are updated using the previous banking day's value during the afternoon. In addition to Finnish holidays, the holidays in the target markets of the funds and exceptional circumstances may affect value calculations. After an additional investment and a change in the allocation or investment plan the updated value of the policy can first be seen in the Insurance self-service.

How can I make an additional investment?

You can make one-time investments and recurring additional investments as a self-service.

You can make an additional one-time investment via the e-payment service from accounts with other Finnish banks to Nordea Target Saving, Nordea Capital and Nordea Vision. As for other policies, you can make an additional investment by making a normal cash transfer from your account. A one-time investment may range from 50 to 50,000 euros. You will see the amount in the details of your policy in 2–3 banking days.

You can make a recurring additional investment according to a recurring payment plan as follows:

  1. Click your policy in order to make a new recurring payment plan for it.
  2. On the next page, select “Create a payment plan” and enter the details of future payments.

If your policy already includes a payment plan, you can update it by clicking “Edit the payment plan”.

Please note that additional investments will be made according to your investment plan valid at the time of transfer. If you don’t want to use the savings allocation according to your current investment plan, change the investment plan before making the additional investment.

For the time being, the details of the changes in the value of Nordea Life Assurance’s investment alternatives are not shown in Nordea Mobile and Nordea Investor. You can see the details of the changes in the value of the investments and the policy in our Insurance self-service.
