Health insurance ensures quick access to medical care

  • Our health insurance provides cover against both illnesses and accidents. It gives you quick access to private healthcare if you sprain your ankle or fall suddenly ill, for example.  
  • Health insurance is an easy solution – with it, you only pay for what you need. You don’t have to worry about what the right level of cover or deductible is for you because they are both fixed.
  • The policy provides compensation for the costs of examinations and treatments caused by an illness or accident up to 30,000 euros.
  • The deductible is 150 euros per policy year.

Am I eligible for health insurance?

Our health insurance is available for adults so you need to be at least 18 years old. To be eligible, you must also reside in Finland, have a Kela card and have a good command of either Finnish or Swedish because we always conclude our agreements in one of these languages.

The maximum age limit for taking out health insurance is 63, and the policy will be valid until you turn 80.

Age affects the price of health insurance

The price of health insurance depends on your age. This is typical for medical expense insurance due to the increased average risks associated with older age. Below you see three price examples for people of various ages.

Health insurance provides compensation for the medical costs caused by an illness or accident.

To be eligible for compensation, the illness must have started or the accident must have occurred during the validity of the insurance policy and the examinations and treatment must have been conducted in Finland.  

The most common costs to be compensated are: 

  • doctor´s fees
  • costs of X-ray and MRI procedures and laboratory tests 
  • costs of five physical treatment sessions prescribed by a doctor in connection with a compensable surgical operation or the treatment of a fracture 
  • costs of dental treatment resulting from an accident, excluding examination and treatment costs resulting from an injury caused by occlusion 
  • treatment costs resulting from plastic surgery after breast cancer or an accident, and
  • daily hospital fees.

Health insurance does not cover:

  • medicinal products and emollients
  • pre-emptive treatments and examinations
  • examinations or treatments related to the teeth or masticatory system, except in the case of treatments as a result of compensable accidents
  • corrections of refractive errors, cataract examinations and treatments or the procurement of eyeglasses or contact lenses
  • examinations or treatments related to a pregnancy
  • examinations and treatments of menopausal symptoms
  • plastic surgery or comparable examinations and treatments (with the exception of specified costs that are eligible for compensation)
  • examinations and treatments related to quality of life or appearance 
  • obesity examinations and treatments
  • examinations and removals of moles
  • psychotherapy, speech therapy, diet therapy or neuropsychological therapy or other comparable examinations and treatments
  • costs of support devices and materials or comparable medical rehabilitation equipment, with the exception of orthopaedic supports that are specified as eligible for compensation.

Similarly, no compensation is paid for costs related to competitive sports or training for such sports, or to high-risk sports.
