How you can keep your data safe

You can protect your data by using multi-factor authentication solutions and strong passwords, for example. To ensure data security, you should not reuse the same password for more than one service. It’s also important to make sure your devices are protected to prevent outsiders from accessing your personal information.

Protect your phone and other devices

Many of us use our phone for work, and our phones contain a lot of personal information. That’s why it’s also important to keep your smartphone secure. As with security in general, there are many things you can do to improve the data security of your device.

  • By updating your operating system, browser and apps regularly, you will always have the latest security updates available to you.
  • Just remember not to click on any links to install updates but use your device settings and app store instead.
  • Be cautions of all links. Criminals can use them to install malware and spyware on your device.
  • Never install apps from outside the app store on your device. If an app wants to access the data or features (such as the camera) on your phone, check the request carefully before granting access.
  • Lock your phone with a passcode that is difficult to guess or use biometrics, such as a fingerprint or face recognition.

Tip: Enable automatic updates to make sure you always have the latest version of Nordea Mobile. If you are using Nordea Mobile but haven’t enabled automatic updates, update the app in your device’s app store.

Strong authentication – mobile certificate or online banking credentials?

Mobile certificate, or mobile ID, is a means of identification connected to your phone’s SIM card. You can activate the mobile certificate by contacting your phone provider.

Mobile certificate and online banking credentials are both secure means of identification you can use to access digital services. No matter which one you use, it’s important to remember that you should never log in to any digital services by clicking on a link. Unlike the mobile certificate, the Nordea ID app tells you which action you are about to confirm. Always check that the transaction details and the login identifier you see in the app match the transaction you are confirming before you enter your PIN.
