Protect your or your family’s finances in case of death or permanent disability caused by an accident

  • Our policy pays out a sum of money if you die or suffer a permanent disability as a result of an accident.
  • You don’t need to submit a health declaration to take out this insurance policy, making it a good option also for those who are not eligible for more comprehensive insurance cover for death or permanent disability due to their state of health.
  • You can choose the amount of cover without any upper limit, but it must always be at least 10,000 euros.
  • The policy will pay out a lump sum soon after the insured event is confirmed. In the case of a permanent disability caused by an accident, the insurance benefit will be paid to you, and in the case of death caused by an accident, to the beneficiary you have selected. 
  • If you have a home loan with us, you are automatically entitled to a 15% discount on your insurance policy. If you are our Premium or Private Banking customer, you are always entitled to a 20% discount on the normal price.
  • A special benefit only available from Nordea: you can raise your compensation amount by up to 25% with physical exercise.

What does the cover for death or permanent disability caused by an accident cover?

  • The policy covers permanent disability or death resulting from an accident. 
  • The insured is considered to be permanently disabled if they have lost their ability to perform the duties of any suitable occupation and earn a reasonable income. In the case of a permanent disability, a tax-exempt lump sum is paid out to the insured.
  • The policy covers accidental deaths caused by traffic accidents, slipping, falling and drowning, for example. In the case of death, a lump sum is paid out to the selected beneficiary.
  • You can choose the amount of cover you need. There is no any upper limit, but the amount of cover must always be at least 10,000 euros.
  • The insurance is valid until you turn 65.

What is excluded from the insurance policy?

The policy does not cover a permanent disability or death which does not result from an accident. As an example, a permanent disability or death caused by a critical illness is not covered.

Well-being benefit – a free add-on you can use to increase your compensation amount by 15% or 25%

Your insurance policy will include a free add-on that allows you to raise your insurance cover by up to 25% with physical exercise. This well-being benefit is unique in Finland and only available for Nordea’s personal insurance policies.

  • Half an hour of brisk physical exercise a day will raise your insurance cover by 15%.
  • One hour of brisk physical exercise a day will bring you a 25% raise to your insurance cover.

Cover for death or permanent disability caused by an accident is issued by Nordea Insurance Finland Ltd (Business ID 2868440-8) through its agent Nordea Bank Abp. 

Detailed compensation criteria and limitations on claims related to the different kinds of cover are stated in the insurance terms and conditions and in the product description specifying their meaning. General limitations on claims are laid down in the Finnish Insurance Contracts Act. Nordea Insurance Finland Ltd’s operations are supervised by the Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA). The Nordea MyLife app is provided in cooperation with Wellmo (Mobile Wellness Solutions MWS Ltd).
