How do I activate my Nordea ID device?

Before you can start using your Nordea ID device, you must activate it. For this you need an activation code.

You will receive the activation code around the same time as the device. The activation code consists of ten digits and will be sent to you in an SMS.

If you have already received the activation code, follow these steps to activate your Nordea ID device:

1. Press OK to turn on your Nordea ID device.
2. Select the language by pressing 1 (English), 2 (Finnish) or 3 (Swedish).
3. Confirm your selection by pressing the OK button.
4. Once the device’s camera is turned on, press C. Enter your activation code and press OK.
5. Next you need to create your personal PIN (4–8 digits) and enter it twice into the device.
   
6. Confirm the creation of a PIN by pressing OK.

Now the Nordea ID device is activated and ready to use. 

How do I confirm transactions with my Nordea ID device?

Here’s how to use the Nordea ID device to confirm transactions, like making a new payment in Netbank:

1. Press the SCAN button on the device.
2. Use the camera to scan the QR code on the confirmation page. 
3. Check that the message shown on your device matches the action you want to confirm, then press OK. 
4. Enter your PIN in the device and press OK. 
5. The Nordea ID device will give you a 9-digit response code. 
6. Enter the response code in the appropriate field in Netbank. 

The transaction is now confirmed. 

How to use the Nordea ID device when calling our Customer Service

You can use the Nordea ID device for verifying your identity and confirming transactions on the phone with our Customer Service:

1. Select the Nordea ID device as you are instructed on the phone.
2. Press OK to turn on your Nordea ID device.
3. Select MENU and LOGIN.
4. You will hear a two-digit challenge code.
5. Enter the challenge code into the Nordea ID device and press OK.
6. Enter your PIN, then press OK. 
7. The device will give you a 9-digit response code.
   
8. Enter the response code on your phone followed by a hashtag (#) in order to verify your identity or confirm a transaction.

Using the Nordea ID device

You can change the language and PIN of your Nordea ID device yourself.

Here’s how to change the language:

1. Switch the device on by pressing the OK button.
2. Press the MENU button, followed by 4 “Choose language”.
3. Select the new language by pressing 1 (English), 2 (Finnish) or 3 (Swedish).
4. Confirm the language selection by pressing the OK button.

Here’s how to change your PIN, provided that you remember your current PIN:

1. Switch the device on by pressing the OK button.
2. Press the MENU button, followed by 5 “PIN management”.
3. When the device asks you “Change PIN?”, confirm by pressing OK.
4. Enter your current PIN, then press OK.
5. Enter and re-enter your new PIN (4–8 digits).
6. Confirm the change of PIN by pressing OK.

Security with the Nordea ID device

The Nordea ID device is personal and you should never give it to anyone else. Your personal identity number and the codes created with the device correspond to your signature. Don’t let anyone use the Nordea ID device on your behalf and never reveal your codes if anyone asks for them in an email or text message or over the phone.

What should I do if I lose my Nordea ID device?

If your device is lost or stolen or you suspect it’s being used by someone else, please contact our blocking service immediately, tel. 020 333 or +358 20 333 (if calling from abroad), to block your device. The service is open around the clock. You won’t automatically receive a new device to replace the old one. If you still need the device, you have to place an order for a new one.
