- How much money do I need to start investing?
You should think of investing as a regular habit. Make a note of your expenses and work out how much you could afford to invest. A popular way is to invest a set amount each month in a fund, for instance. This allows you to benefit from the effect of compounding and to spread your investments over a longer period of time.
You can also make one-time investments in a fund. When you set up a monthly savings agreement, it’s common to make a larger one-time investment at the start and then continue to make regular monthly investments in the same fund.
- How much does it cost to invest?
- We offer affordable investing even with small amounts. Our investment fees depend on the product:
- No subscription or redemption fees when you trade in funds through Nordea Mobile and Netbank. We charge a management fee for investment funds. The fees charged for funds vary depending on the fund. You can find detailed information about the fees in the fund prospectuses and key information documents.
- We have a trading fee cap of 1% for all the Nordic stock exchanges and all ETFs. It makes it affordable for you to buy shares and units in listed funds and to invest regularly no matter how small the amounts.
- You will not be charged any custody fees on your book-entry account or equity savings account if you have executed at least one trade that is subject to a brokerage fee during the previous quarter. Moreover, we offer equity savings accounts for free for people under 30.

- What should I invest in?
Whether you’re a more experienced investor or dipping your toes into the world of investing for the first time, everyone can find a way to invest that suits them.
Investment funds are a common and popular way to get started. Investing in funds is a relatively easy way to make sure your investments are well-diversified. You can invest a lump sum into a fund of your choosing or set up a monthly savings agreement.
Investing in equities is also popular but it requires you to learn about the companies you want to invest in, to track the performance of your portfolio and to actively make investment decisions.

- How much should I invest in a month?
The amount you should invest depends on your financial situation. With us, you can start investing with as little as 10 euros a month. It’s always possible to adjust and increase the amount later. You can also invest larger lump sums whenever you like.
Keeping track of your income and expenses makes it easier for you to work out how much you can afford to invest in funds or other assets each month.
- What should I know about the risks involved in investing?
All investments carry some sort of risk. These include the risk of your investments declining in value, changes in companies’ financial standings, interest rate fluctuations, political risks or risks related to the timing of your investments, among other things.
A good way to mitigate these risks is to keep a few rules of thumb in mind:
- Don’t invest more than you can afford, and make sure to spread your investments over a longer period of time.
- Have a savings buffer for a rainy day, so you don’t need to dip into your investments when unexpected expenses arise.
- Understand what you’re investing in and choose investments that match your preferred risk level.
Keep in mind that it’s perfectly normal that your investments may go up and down in value. The value of investments doesn’t typically just rise but may also fall along the way, following the ups and downs of the stock market. In times of market volatility, it’s important to stay calm and think twice whether it’s absolutely necessary for you to deviate from your plan and redeem your investments.
- How do I create an investment plan?
Investing requires a long-term approach and therefore a good way of reaching your investment target and increasing your wealth is to prepare an investment plan. Your investment plan takes into account your financial situation, investment goals, investment experience, risk and loss tolerance and other personal circumstances.
You can create a personal investment plan with our digital investment adviser Nora. You are not obliged to make any investments according to the investment plan.
