How to activate the app with another bank’s credentials

Find the Nordea ID app in your app store and install it on your device.

Activate the app

1. Open the Nordea ID app and start the activation by naming your profile.
2. Select your country, language and customer type.
3. Select “Other bank’s credentials” as the authentication method.
4. Enter your Nordea user ID.
5. You will be transferred to the authentication page where you can select the bank whose credentials you want to use.
6. Once you have completed the authentication, the app will ask you to confirm the phone number to which the activation code will be sent.
7. Before entering the activation code, we will ask you to confirm the activation of the Nordea ID app with your bank’s credentials.
8. You can now enter the 10-digit activation code that you received by SMS.
9. Choose a 4–8 digit PIN. In future, you will use this PIN when logging in to services and confirming payments with the Nordea ID app. 

 Your Nordea ID app is now ready to use!

How to activate the app without a means of identification or with a code card

Order the activation code and temporary PIN

Open your Nordea ID app and order the activation code and temporary PIN in the app.

1. Name your profile.
2. Select your country, language and customer type.
3. Select “Activation code” as the authentication method and then select “I would like to order the activation code and temporary PIN”.
4. Enter your Nordea user ID and phone number in the app and tap “Order codes”.

Wait until you have received your activation code and temporary PIN

Enter the activation code you received by SMS in the app once you have received the temporary PIN by post. You can use the activation code and temporary PIN only once, and they always work as a pair. It’s not possible to combine either one of them with an activation code or a temporary PIN that you have ordered previously or that you will order afterwards.

For security reasons, we will only send the activation code to your verified phone number. You can check or add your phone number in Nordea Mobile. In Nordea Mobile, select “Profile” and edit your contact information. When you add a phone number to Nordea Mobile, it will be verified by us. 

If you are unable to log in to Nordea Mobile and you don’t have a verified phone number, you can verify your phone number by calling us.

Complete the activation

When you have received both the activation code and the temporary PIN, follow the steps below to complete the activation:

1. Open the Nordea ID app
   
2. Enter your activation code and the temporary PIN.
3. Choose a 4–8 digit PIN.

Your Nordea ID app is now ready to use!

How to activate the Nordea ID app for the first time if you only have a card from Nordea

Here’s how you activate the Nordea ID app if you’re not a Nordea customer but you have a card issued by Nordea: 

1. Download the Nordea ID app from your mobile device’s app store. 
   
2. Open the Nordea ID app and start the activation by naming your user profile and selecting your country and language. 
   
3. Select the option “I only have a credit card through Nordea”. 
   
4. Select your bank or a mobile ID as the authentication method and verify your identity.  
   
5. Once you have successfully verified your identity, the app will tell you that an activation code will be sent to your phone number. 
   
6. When you receive the activation code, enter it into the app. 
   
7. The activation is now almost complete. The last thing you need to do is choose a 4–8 digit PIN, which you will use to confirm online payments in the future. 
   

Your Nordea ID app is now ready to use.

If you’re not able to activate the Nordea ID app on your mobile device, you can confirm online payments with a one-time passcode sent to you by SMS. Please contact us to register for this SMS service. 

How to activate the Nordea ID app on a device when you already have it installed on another device

Find the Nordea ID app in your app store and install it on your new device.

Make sure that both your old and new device have the latest version of the Nordea ID app and are connected to the internet. You can use either mobile data (SIM card) or a wireless network (wi-fi) or share a network connection from another device. 

Activate the app

1. Open the Nordea ID app on your new device and name your user profile.
2. Select your country, language and customer type.
3. Select “Activate on this device” and follow the steps in the app.
4. Open the Nordea ID app on your old device and select “Activate in another device”.
5. Enter your Nordea user ID and the PIN for the app.
6. The app will give you a QR code, which you can use to activate the Nordea ID app on your new device.
7. Use the camera on your new device to scan the QR code from your old device.
8. Once you have scanned the QR code, you are asked to choose a 4–8 digit PIN.  

Your Nordea ID app is now activated and you can close your old device.

How to activate the Nordea ID app without a previous device

If you don’t have the Nordea ID app activated on a previous device, you can activate it directly on your new phone or tablet. 

To do this, you need to have online banking codes from another Finnish bank or a mobile ID to verify your identity. You will receive the activation code by SMS.
