Claiming compensation from Nordea MyLife sick pay and unemployment insurance

Unemployment and temporary disability cover

  • Compensation will be paid from the insurance policy if you become unemployed for financial or production-related reasons, or if you suffer a temporary disability and have to take sick leave due to an illness or accident. Check the conditions for claiming compensation from the insurance terms and conditions.
  • You can make a claim in our Insurance self-service if you have online banking credentials from us or another Finnish bank.

2. Send the attachments

  • You will receive a secure message from us on the next day, and you can send the attachments by replying to the message. 
  • You will find the message in Nordea Mobile and Netbank. You will also receive the message in Nordea OmapostiOpens new window, to which you can log in if you have online banking credentials from another Finnish bank.

3. Claim decision

  • Once we have processed your claim, we will send our decision to you in Nordea Omaposti. 
  • If we approve your claim, we will pay the agreed monthly compensation to the account you have specified.

Documents required in the case of sick leave

  • Doctor’s certificate covering the period from when the illness started or accident occurred. The doctor’s certificate must state the diagnosis and the period of disability. 
  • Copies of any other medical statements or doctor’s certificates related to the case.
  • Tax card, which you can obtain from the Tax Administration for the insurance benefit. Enter Nordea Life Assurance Finland Ltd as the payer. If you provide us with a tax card intended for the payment of salaries or other benefits, we will withhold taxes using the percentage for excess income (which is higher than the base rate). If you don’t provide a tax card at all, we will withhold a tax of 50%.

Documents required in the case of unemployment

  • Employment contract / testimonial
  • Notice of dismissal indicating the reason for the dismissal
  • First favourable decision on the payment of unemployment benefits, issued by the unemployment fund or Kela
  • Receipts of payment of unemployment benefits
  • Tax card, which you can obtain from the Tax Administration for the insurance benefit. Enter Nordea Life Assurance Finland Ltd as the payer. If you provide us with a tax card intended for the payment of salaries or other benefits, we will withhold taxes using the percentage for excess income (which is higher than the base rate). If you don’t provide a tax card at all, we will withhold a tax of 50%.

Paper form as an alternative

If you wish, you can also fill in a separate claim form and send it to us by post.

When you send us a claim by post, you will need to attach a copy of your personal identity document (passport, ID card or driving licence). If you don’t have a Finnish personal identity document, you will need to attach a copy of your passport or other travel document.
