  • Do not store you card and PIN in the same place. When entering your PIN, make sure that no one can see it.
  • Never reveal your card number or PIN to anyone via telephone, e-mail or in any other way, even if inquirers present themselves as the bank’s employees or police officers.
  • Once you start using mobile payments, you don’t need to enter your PIN at a payment terminal.

When you apply for a new card in Nordea Mobile or Netbank, we will provide you with a PIN automatically. Your new card is ready to use as soon as you receive it. Enter your PIN when you make your first purchase to activate contactless payments.

If you get a new card instead of your old one, your PIN remains the same as in your old card.

PIN and contactless payments

You need your PIN to pay for purchases in different situations. With your PIN, you verify payments at store checkouts and withdrawals at ATMs.

If you are paying for purchases under 50 euros, all you need to do is tap your card on the payment terminal – there is no need to enter your PIN. When you are paying with your card that has the contactless payment feature for the first time, insert your card into the payment terminal and enter your PIN.

For security reasons, payment terminals will occasionally ask you to insert your card and enter the PIN to make sure you’re the rightful cardholder.

The “single tap” feature on cards enables easy contactless payments for any sum. Tap your card on the payment terminal and enter your PIN.
