Accessibility statement for Nordea’s Insurance service

This accessibility statement applies to Nordea’s Insurance online service. The service is subject to the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services, which requires digital services to meet accessibility requirements. The accessibility of the service was assessed by a third party in October 2020, and this statement was published in December 2020. This statement was last updated on 10 October 2022.

Accessibility of the service

The service is partially compliant with the accessibility requirements. Below is a list of the shortcomings of which we are aware.

Non-accessible content

The service is not yet fully compliant with the requirements in the following identified areas:

Perceivable:

1.1.1 Non-text content

  • There are shortcomings in the text alternatives of icons and images.

1.3.1 Info and relationships

  • On some pages, the question mark icons that open tooltips are not read as buttons but as body text.
  • The radio buttons on the form do not form a group, which is why they are not perceived as being alternatives to each other.
  • There are unclear sections in the functioning of some tables for those who use a screen reader.
  • The tables contain expandable elements which are not read by a screen reader.
  • It is unclear how to expand the elements and access their content.
  • The heading definitions of tables do not function with all browsers.

1.4.1 Use of colour

  • It is difficult to detect some of the links. The contrast between the links and the background is insufficient and the links are not underlined.

1.4.4 Resize text

  • When the text is enlarged by 200%, the button texts are not shown in full.

Operable:

2.1.1 Keyboard

  • The menu in the upper right corner cannot be accessed with the arrow keys. However, the menu works with the tab key.
  • There are unclear sections in the functioning of some tables for those who use a screen reader.
    • The tables contain expandable elements which are not read by a screen reader.
    • It is unclear how to expand the elements and access their content.
    • The heading definitions of tables do not function with all browsers.

2.4.2 Page titled

  • The titles on some pages do not always correspond to the content of the page.

2.4.3 Focus order

  • When you open some pages, the focus switches to the bottom of the page.
  • The focus order of the Continue and Cancel buttons on the form do not correspond to the visual presentation.

2.4.4 Link purpose (in context)

  • There are shortcomings in the text alternatives of icons and images.

Understandable:

3.3.1 Error identification

  • Screen reader users do not receive clear feedback on a form that has been filled in incorrectly. The same applies to empty fields or fields filled in incorrectly.

3.3.2 Labels or instructions

  • The mandatory fields are not programmatically determined as mandatory.

Robust:

4.1.3 Status messages

  • Screen reader users do not receive clear feedback on a form that has been filled in incorrectly. The same applies to empty fields or fields filled in incorrectly.

Content that is still non-accessible:

  • Online claim form
  • Change of savings allocation
  • Change of investment plan
  • Suitability assessment (product knowledge) test

The NVDA screen reader occasionally reads the content of tables incorrectly. This applies particularly to a Windows OneCore speech synthesizer. There are problems at least in the following sections:

  • The column number is read as part of the number within a cell when the number consists of hundreds of thousands.
  • Some of the text in a cell (such as an agreement number) is not read at all times.
