Nordea.fi accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to Nordea.fi. It is subject to the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services, which requires digital services to meet accessibility requirements. This statement was originally published on 18 December 2020 and updated on 10 November 2023.

The accessibility of this service has been evaluated by a third party specializing in accessibility.

Accessibility status of the digital service

This service is partially compliant with the accessibility requirements. The identified shortcomings are planned to be fixed. The statement will be updated annually.

Perceivable

WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A)

  • Not all infographic information is explained or read correctly with screen reader
  • Not all pictures or icons are marked decorative

WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A)

  • Not all lists, tables or link structures are marked correctly
  • Some of the text fields, drop-down menus, scroll bars and search fields do not have labels
  • Some of the headers and headings are missing, not marked, or are marked incorrectly
  • Some navigation steps are difficult to understand or do not proceed in the expected order
  • The valuable information might sometimes be found only in the end of a section
  • The layout table used
  • The minimized chat window might cover other components and show incorrect number of messages, and chat reading might start from the first ever message and not from the newest message
  • The screen reader can read the name of a wrong button, the minimum and maximum amount with comma, the slide bar number in incorrect Finnish or cannot read the steps at all
  • The screen reader might be silent after selected main item from the drop-down menu
  • The screen reader might read the link twice or with unnecessary visited information
  • When the connection to Nova stops the chat works stills someway but the screen reader does not tell it

  • Not all tables are marked correctly, and the layout table might be used
  • The screen reader might first read the thumps and then button or text

WCAG 1.4.1 Use of Color (Level A)

  • Not all external and internal links are marked correctly
  • Some anchor links are marked as links

WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA)

  • There are some shortcomings in the color contrasts (e.g. in texts, buttons, icons and links)

WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow (Level AA)

  • Some elements on the website have issues with reflow on smaller screen sizes such as mobile devices

WCAG 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast (Level AA)

  • The focus might not be visible in input fields, buttons, menus, slide bars or tabs
  • Some of the pages are not marked correctly
  • The contrast of the focus, page or text is not always sufficient
  • The minimized chat button does not always look like a button

WCAG 1.4.12 Text Spacing (Level AA)

  • When text spacing or zoom is used, the text or links in some drop-down menus might be partially hidden

WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard (Level A)

  • The navigation might go through the upper menu even when it is not visible

WCAG 2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap (Level A)

  • The screen reader might read the whole second level menu list when the drop-down menu opens

WCAG 2.4.3 Focus Order (Level A)

  • The focus might not be in the first or expected item and might jump over some radio buttons, checkboxes and links
  • The screen reader might not get the error message or correct focus
  • The screen reader might read hidden or invalid information

WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A)

  • Not all internal and external links are marked correctly
  • Not all link titles are descriptive or contain the same information as the link text
  • Some anchor links are marked as links
  • The screen reader might not tell that the link opens a new window

WCAG 2.4.6 Headings and Labels (Level AA)

  • Not all site drop-down menus, scroll bars, search or text fields have labels
  • Some headings are empty or not marked correctly and might be at the wrong level

WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible (Level AA)

  • The focus contrast might not be sufficient
  • The focus might not always be visible in input fields, buttons, menus, slide bars or tabs
  • The visible focus does not always follow the actual focus

WCAG 2.5.3 Label in Name (Level A)

  • The labels are not always the same as the names

Understandable

WCAG 3.1.2 Language of Parts (Level AA)

  • Some step, link and button names and text parts are in Finnish on an English page
  • The foreign language texts on the page are not marked correctly
  • The screen reader reads might read info in Finnish on an English page or extra information when the drop-down windows open
  • Wrong language code might be marked

WCAG 3.2.2 On Input (Level A)

  • The behavior information might be insufficient before using the loan calculator

WCAG 3.2.4 Consistent Identification (Level AA)

  • Not all anchor links are marked as links
  • Not all infographic information is explained
  • Not all pictures or icons are marked decorative and might be read inconsistently with screen reader
  • Some of the links look like buttons and are not marked correctly in drop-down windows or are without decorative images

WCAG 3.3.1 Error Identification (Level A)

  • The errors might be reported unclearly and instruction how to proceed might be missing

WCAG 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions (Level A)

  • Instruction about mandatory fields might be missing
  • Some scroll bars, drop-down menus, search, or text fields do not have labels
  • Not all buttons have a clear name
  • Placeholders might be missing or are not descriptive

Robust

WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (Level A)

  • ARIA role presentation is not always allowed
  • Not all site drop-down menus have a name
  • Some buttons and links are marked incorrectly or are missing names
  • Some of the drop-down menus are marked as buttons or links
  • Some of the site drop-down menus show the first selection not the current site
  • Some of the tabs are marked as buttons and might not have a role or correct information in English
  • The screen reader might not clearly tell that
    - there is a new message in the chat
    - what is the current page
    - the status of the drop-down menu tab or thumps
    - that the button is selected, language is selected, thump up/down is selected, the state of checkbox or radio button.
  • The screen reader might read all list items when drop-down list is open, and minimum and maximum amounts with comma
  • The selected service is sometimes difficult to notice

WCAG 4.1.3 Status Messages (Level AA)

  • The screen reader might not clearly tell that
    - the page has changed in the background
    - the chat is starting
    - there is  a response in the minimized chat window
