What is the North American market?

The North American market mainly refers to the equity markets of the US and Canada. The region is one of the world’s largest and most developed economic areas. The US market is especially important globally, as it represents a significant share of the total value of the global stock markets.

North America’s strengths include easy and efficient trading, clear rules and oversight as well as an appreciation for new ideas and inventions. The region is also home to many large technology companies and fosters a strong entrepreneurial mindset. Many of the world’s biggest companies operate here, especially in technology, finance and health care.

North America as an investment

North America has many strengths as an investment: a stable business environment, a strong innovation culture and globally leading companies. Well-known North-American companies include Microsoft, Nvidia, Apple and Amazon. As an investor, you benefit from smooth trading, transparent information and strong investor protection.

On the downside, share prices can be high at times, fluctuations in the value of the US dollar can affect returns for European investors and the market is strongly influenced by technology-sector performance. The North American market can be a good choice to include in a long-term investment plan. But to build a well-diversified portfolio, it’s wise to consider other regions as well.
