How to open banking services when you are new to Finland
When you become our customer, you will get access to a current account, online access codes and a Nordea Debit card. To open banking services, you need to have a valid identity document and the right to reside in Finland.
Besides online banking, you can use your Nordea access codes to log in to the services of other service providers, such as online public services. This service is called electronic identification (e-identification) and activating it requires you to have a passport or an identity card issued in Finland, another EEA member country, Switzerland or San Marino, and a Finnish personal identity number. If you don’t have these documents, you can visit a police station where your identity can be verified for the purpose of activating the electronic identification service.
Identity document
To become our customer, you will need one of the following valid travel documents issued by a foreign authority and accepted in Finland:

To prove your right of residence in Finland, you will need one of the following:

The Finnish Immigration Service helps people who are applying for asylum or a residence permit.
Asylum seekers may get financial assistance while their application is being processed. This money is called the reception allowance and it is uploaded to a prepaid card granted by the Finnish Immigration Service. If you have this card, you may not need to open banking services right away.
