How your banking will change when you turn 18
When you turn 18, certain aspects of your banking will change. Your guardians will no longer have access to your accounts and you will be personally responsible for your banking services. If your guardians opened an account or obtained a card or other banking services for you, you can continue to use them after you turn 18.
Key changes
- Your parents’ right to manage your banking will end when you become an adult, as now you will be solely responsible for them.
- Your parents’ right to use your accounts will be automatically removed. Your accounts will no longer be shown in your parents’ Nordea Mobile and Netbank.
- If your guardian holds a card linked to your account, they will be able to use the card until it expires. However, once you’re 18, you can remove your parent’s right to use the card sooner or extend the card for a longer period.
- If there are savings and investments in your name, you will gain access to them and your parents’ right to view and manage them will expire.
If you wish to extend your parents’ rights to manage your savings and investments, please contact our Customer Service. If you have Nordea access codes, you can restore your parents’ rights simply by calling us. If you don’t have access codes, you can book an appointment at one of our branches and handle the matter there.
