How to use the additional payment confirmation service

You can make an additional payment confirmation either by an SMS or by calling. The messages and calls are free of charge for customers when using the service in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions.

SMS service

You can make the additional payment confirmation by an SMS from Finnish subscriptions with Aina's, Academica's, Cubio's, Dicame's, DNA's, Elisa's, Fujitsu's (subscriptions operating in Elisa's network), Saunalahti's, Sonera's, TDC Song's, Telefinland's and Ålands Mobiltelefon's subscription as well as with most foreign subscriptions supporting SMS services. The SMS service is available 24 hours a day, just like Netbank.

Register for the SMS service

You must first register for the SMS service before you can confirm payments by an SMS.

You can register in Netbank, under Mobile services/SMS confirmation. You will be asked to confirm the mobile phone number suggested by the system. After selecting the mobile phone number, select: All services (also the extra cover which requires confirmation). If Netbank does not suggest a phone number, you can register for the SMS service by calling the Additional Confirmation Service, tel 0800 165 656, during the opening hours of Nordea Customer Service (Mon - Fri 8.00 - 18.00, free of charge in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions).

The mobile phone numbers suggested by Netbank are those you have registered in Netbank and those you have given to the bank as well as numbers which Nordea has acquired from a third party who uses information updated by Suomen Numeropalvelu Oy (national phone directory service). The phone numbers are only used in Netbank in the alerts and confirmations you have registered for.

SMS "A" confirms a payment

Additional confirmation will be asked in Netbank for payments considered exceptional.

The bank will send an additional confirmation request to you by an SMS. To confirm the payment, you must send an SMS including the letter A. The system will immediately send you an acknowledgment message as a reply to that message. If a payment waiting for additional confirmation has not been confirmed by an SMS by the end of the following banking day, the payment will expire.

Confirmation by phone

If you do not use the SMS service, you must confirm the payment by calling the Additional Confirmation Service, tel 0800 165 656 (free of charge in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions). The telephone service is open Mon - Fri 8.00 - 18.00.
