An effective way to diversify your portfolio

Professionally and actively managed investments

Potential for significant returns with a higher risk

What are alternative investments?

Alternative investments are investments that are not listed on the stock exchange. As the name suggests, they offer an alternative to more traditional investments, such as shares or bonds.

Examples of alternative investments:

  • unlisted companies (private equity)
  • private credit
  • infrastructure
  • natural resources
  • real estate

Because the returns on alternative investments are not linked to equity or fixed-income markets, they can help balance your portfolio. For many investors, they are a good diversification tool and a way to curb fluctuations in value in the long term.

Potential risks

Alternative investments involve risks and differ from traditional investments in many ways:

  • alternative investments are often illiquid, meaning they can be more difficult to sell than funds, stocks or bonds
  • longer investment horizon
  • complexity
  • higher costs than in traditional investment funds

The solutions that suit you depend on your preferences, such as your risk and return expectations.

If you are interested in alternative investments, ask your Private Banker for more information – they will be able to suggest a suitable solution for you.

Who can alternative investments be suitable for?

Alternative investments may be suitable for investors who:

  • have a long investment horizon
  • tolerate high risks
  • want to diversify their portfolio.
