An easy and popular way to invest

You will save time when you leave the day-to-day portfolio management to an expert.

Professional portfolio managers take charge of your investments

Your investments will be managed actively, professionally and following an approach you have planned together.

Mitigate the risk of buying and selling at the wrong times

Your portfolio manager will keep a cool head and stick to the strategy even when there is turbulence on the market.

A discretionary portfolio means that you assign all your investments or a certain part of them to be managed by a professional. Our experienced experts follow the markets on a daily basis and make investment decisions on your behalf, so you don’t have to.

Who could benefit from discretionary asset management?

A significant share of our Private Banking customers manage their investments through a discretionary portfolio. Discretionary asset management may be a good solution if you don’t have the time or don’t want to manage your portfolio actively.

Many experienced investors have also chosen a discretionary portfolio. They may, for example, outsource the management of their foreign equities to a portfolio manager, giving them more time to focus on Finnish companies.

A discretionary portfolio may be the right choice for you, if you wish to:

  • find an easy asset management solution in which we take care of portfolio management and analyses for you
  • make investment decisions simpler but still be able to spread the risk effectively
  • receive professional help in maximising returns at your chosen risk level

How are investment decisions made?

The decisions made by the portfolio manager are guided by your preferences, risk profile, investment horizon and return objectives. Decisions are always based on systematic models – not on the views of an individual portfolio manager. We have dozens of ready-made options, and new discretionary portfolios can always be tailored to fit individual needs.

Potential risks

Investing always involves risk. Discretionary portfolios differ from each other in terms of their risk profile, from pure fixed-income portfolios to pure equity portfolios. You can discuss your options, risk level and return objectives with your adviser.

Discretionary portfolios for Private Banking customers

Nordea’s discretionary solutions cover investment fund-, equity- and insurance wrapper-based portfolios, and they can be tailored to match your goals, risk level and sustainability preferences.

Investment fund portfolios

In addition to Nordea’s own investment funds, we also use funds from our carefully selected partners that are ranked among the best in the world.

Portfolios based on stock picking

You can choose a portfolio investing in the Nordic or global equity markets. Investment decisions are based on the quality, competitive position and valuation of individual companies.

Portfolio management also within insurance wrappers

Investment baskets combine professional portfolio management with the benefits of unit-linked insurance, offering flexibility and tax benefits as part of your overall asset management.

Tailored portfolios are the most personalised form of asset management

Your investment approach, structures and execution are tailored to your goals, asset structure and preferences in close collaboration with our experts.

We will keep you updated on what is going on in your portfolio

Each month, you will receive a detailed report on the composition and development of your portfolio. In the monthly newsletter, you will find your portfolio manager’s comments on the markets, your holdings and any changes in the holdings.

Nordea’s unit-linked insurance policies and investment baskets are offered by Nordea Life Assurance Finland Ltd, for which Nordea Bank Abp acts as an agent.
