Principles of privacy protection regarding Nordea's open website and personal customers

Nordea collects, processes and analyses data about the usage, traffic and events on Nordea internet sites. Traffic data is data that can be associated with visitors to the internet pages and that is handled in communications networks for the purpose of transmitting, distributing or providing messages.

The data will not be used to identify individual visitors except for Nordea Netbank customers.

Nordea may, if deemed necessary, also acquire such data from third parties.

Different terms of use and privacy protection practices may apply to certain services available through the Nordea internet sites.

Collected data

Nordea collects and analyses data about visitors on Nordea’s internet sites, including, but not limited to:

  • IP-address
  • Browser type (Internet Explorer, Firefox etc)
  • Operating system (Windows etc)
  • Log-in type
  • Pages accessed

The purpose

Nordea stores web statistics data in order to secure the technical implementation and usage of the network. The data is also used to give Nordea increased insight and ability to further enhance its customers’ and internet site visitors’ user experience.

Nordea utilises web statistics in order to enhance its electronic services and to better understand and serve its customers’ and internet site visitors’ needs, including development of tasks and services related to operations of credit institutions.

Who processes the data?

Nordea is the controller of the collected data and will not surrender the data to any third parties. Nordea may use, however, subcontractors in processing of the data. At the moment a US-based company, Webtrends, processes personal data on behalf of Nordea Bank. Webtrends is a global leader in web statistics collection and in order to secure privacy protection they comply with the Directive on Data Protection (October 1995) of the European Parliament and Council through the Standard Contractual Clauses approved through the EU Commission Decision 2010/87/EU of 5 February 2010.

Nordea may enlist the advice and services of other subcontractors to assist Nordea with customer service, marketing analysis or interaction with financial operators.

Nordea will never allow such subcontractors to utilise the data for anything else than purposes defined by Nordea.

Information that Nordea’s customers submit by registering data in the private Netbank can be used by Nordea for defined purposes, e.g. analysis and marketing.
