Use of personal data 

Nordea Life Assurance Finland Ltd (‘Nordea Life Assurance’) handles personal data in compliance with the legislation and principles governing data security and bank and insurance secrecy. Nordea Life Assurance is a subsidiary of Nordea Bank AB (publ) and is part of the Nordea Bank AB (publ) group. 

Customer data

Nordea Life Assurance acts as the registrar with respect to the customer data it holds in its possession. Nordea Life Assurance has a common description of customer data file with Nordea Bank AB (publ) and certain companies belonging to the Nordea Group. Personal data handled includes identification data along with contact and transaction information of the person. Customer data is handled in Nordea Life Assurance’s operations, in providing the services and in the management of the customer relationship. The data is also used in the development of business operations and products and in the targeting of marketing and services intended for the customers. 

We wish to protect our customers and the entire society. The ‘Know Your Customer’ information and other personal data collected from the customers create the foundation for a customer relationship based on trust and help us to detect abnormal use of our services and potential illegal activities. Knowing the customer also plays an important role in Nordea Life Assurance’s compliance with its statutory obligations. The ‘Know Your Customer’ information and other personal data collected from the customer may be used for preventing, investigating and uncovering money laundering and terrorist financing. In addition, the data may be disclosed to the authorities for raising an official investigation into money laundering, terrorist financing and crimes with which property or a criminal benefit related to money laundering or terrorist financing has been obtained.

Data is acquired from the customers themselves or their representatives, from public registers maintained by authorities or other reliable public sources. If a service or product requires it, the credit information may be checked from the credit information register. Nordea Life Assurance and Nordea Bank AB (publ) may record phone conversations and save e-mails in an effort to confirm their contents when necessitated by circumstances or the service situation.
