Deadlines for redeeming a money order

When you receive a tax refund paid by money order, you need to redeem it at Nordea within 28 days. Other money orders need to be redeemed within 45 days. You should act as soon as possible after you have received the letter notifying you of the money order, as redeeming a money order may take several banking days depending on how you choose to redeem it.

Alternatively, you can provide your account number to the payer (such as the Tax Administration), which means you don’t need to redeem the money order through Nordea.

How to redeem a money order – companies and associations

A person authorised to sign for your company or association can redeem a money order by calling Nordea Business Centre, tel. 0200 26262 (local rates apply), and using their valid personal online banking codes from any Finnish bank.

Please keep the letter notifying you of the money order at hand when calling us.

In case of a tax refund, provide your company’s or association’s account number in the MyTax service (vero.fi/mytaxOpens new window). The Tax Administration will pay the refund to your company’s or association’s account within about five weeks of the date of the letter notifying you of the money order. An added benefit is that your company or association will receive all refunds in the future directly to this account without a separate notification.

In case the money order is addressed to a deemed partnership, please see more detailed instructions below on this page.
