Access codes correspond to your signature

Access codes consist of a user ID, a permanent password, a code card and a code app Stop by a Nordea branch to make a Netbank agreement. You get access codes right after signing a Netbank agreement.Nordea's customers can identify themselves with their permanent user ID, together with one of three different alternatives: the code app, the code calculator and the code card. 

The use of code cards will end during 2017. Replacement alternatives are the code app and the code calculator. The code app is an easy-to-use app that can be downloaded from the app store for your mobile device. The code calculator will be available for order in late 2016. 

  • You get a user ID when you make a Netbank agreement. The user ID remains the same until the agreement is terminated. Irrespective of whether you use a permanent password, the code card or the code app, you will always need the user ID.       
  • The code app is a mobile application with which you can identify yourself and confirm bills and other transactions. When you enter your personal PIN in the code app it will calculate changing transaction-specific codes for you. If your mobile device has a data connection, the app will send the code to Nordea in an encrypted network on your behalf. With a data connection, the app will show the code on the mobile device's display where you can copy it to the service you want to use.
  • With the permanent password you can see the balances and transactions of your accounts and credit cards, but you will need either the code card or the code app to confirm transactions.
  • The code card includes 80 changing codes. Use the codes in the order indicated on the code card. The bank will automatically send you a new code card when you have used 60 codes (50 codes for investor customers).  In addition to the changing codes, the code card includes repeatedly used confirmation codes to confirm bills and other transactions.  They are marked by letters and located at the bottom of the code card.

Never give  your access codes to another person. Memorise the user ID, the permanent password and the code app's PIN code. Keep the user ID in a separate place from the code card and the app.

The code calculator is an identification method provided by Nordea. This method is intended for customers who are unable to use the code app on a mobile device. 

It is lightweight, compact, and handy to carry for example in the card pocket of your wallet. With the code calculator, you can log in to Netbank and Mobile Bank, as well as identify yourself in Nordea Customer Service. You can also pay for your online shopping securely and identify yourself in other service providers' services.  

The code calculator will free you from the hassle of carrying a paper code card and striking out codes every time you use them – with the code calculator, you will never run out of codes. The code calculator will also guarantee secure banking going forward. It will be easier to prevent threats related to data security as well.

With the code card you can identify yourself and confirm transactions in Nordea's Netbank, Mobile Bank and Customer Service. You can also pay online purchases with the e-payment and identify yourself in other service providers' services.

With the code card you log into services with your user ID and the code card's changing codes. You will get a user ID in connection with the conclusion of the agreement at a branch and at the same time you will get the code card with the one-time codes. 

You will get the user ID when you conclude the Netbank agreement and it will stay the same for the entire agreement period.

When you make the agreement, you will receive one-time codes, ie a code card with 80 individual codes. Use the codes in the order indicated on the card. When you have used 60 codes, or 50 codes if you are an investor customer, we will automatically send you a new code card.

Confirmation codes are used repeatedly to confirm bills and other transactions. They are marked by letters and located at the bottom of the code card.

The sequence number of the code

You can check the sequence number of the code by logging into the service you want to use with the 80th code on the code card.

However, doing this will be counted as an incorrect key-in. Please note that five (5) incorrect key-ins will block the service. If this happens, you can automatically access the service the next day.

Remember that each time you use the 80th code to check the sequence number of a code will be counted as an incorrect key-in.
You can also activate a blocked service by visiting a branch.

Permanent password

With the permanent password you can see the balances and transactions of your accounts and credit cards, but you will need either the code card or the code app to confirm transactions.

You can view your account and credit card transactions and make credit transfers between your accounts in Nordea.

The use of the permanent password is included in the access codes fee.

Prepaid access codes

If you need access codes for identification, but you do not have an account in Nordea, you can get Nordea's prepaid access codes. With prepaid access codes you can reliably identify yourself online.

You pay for the prepaid access codes when you make an agreement at a Nordea branch, and they are valid for one year from the date of the agreement.

You can obtain the access codes by either completing the ‘Become a customer online’ form or visiting a Nordea branch.

Netbank agreement

Stop by a Nordea branch to make a Netbank agreement. You get access codes right after signing a Netbank agreement. You can also become a customer online and receive the access codes during the next banking day. 

You can make a Netbank agreement:

  • if you are 18 and have an account in Nordea
  • if you are 15–17 and have your guardians' consent
  • if you are 15, you can make the agreement on your own, if  you have an account opened by you and intended for your income and which does not require the consent of your guardians.


An account you are authorised to use or a book-entry account can also be added to the Netbank agreement.   In the above situation, both the accountholder and the authorised user must be present at the branch. A personal customer must be present in person and a corporate customer’s representative must present a decision by the Board of Directors.

If you want to make an agreement on behalf of an association, for example, or want to add to your agreement another person's account, remember to take the necessary documents with you.

View your account information electronically

Netbank's viewing right is a service available to those customers free of charge who do not use Netbank. With the service customers can view their account transactions and credit card balances and receive a monthly account statement electronically. A user ID and a permanent four-digit password are required for the use of Netbank's viewing right.

  • The service is free of charge.
  • Suits customers who do not use Netbank and young customers under 15 (with their parents' authorisation).
  • The agreement is opened in branch.
  • The service shows all the customer's accounts and their e-statements, excluding the ASP account and time deposit accounts. 

  • Netbank's viewing right can be used on a computer or through a mobile device's browser.

 The codes are only intended for viewing account information and cannot be used for identification or payment of bills.

Versatile online banking with access codes

In addition to banking in Netbank or in Mobile Bank, you can pay your online purchases securely with the access codes and identity yourself and confirm transactions in other service providers' services, such as Kela's and Tax Administration's online service.

The service providers are responsible for their services and related instructions and help. Nordea is only responsible for the identification of the customer vis-à-vis the service provider and for the transfer of possible payment transactions.

To lottery games via Netbank

As Nordea's personal customer you can use services offered by Oy Veikkaus Ab through via Netbank. To be able to go to the Veikkaus pool betting service through Netbank, you must reside permanently in Finland and have a Finnish personal identity number.  Nordea does not charge a separate fee for this service. Oy Veikkaus Ab charges fees for betting according to its pricelist.
