Credit transfer

Credit transfer is an easy way to make euro payments in Finland and to European banks. Credit transfers are made in the same way irrespective of whether the payee's account bank is in Finland or abroad.

Credit transfer As a self service Prices Terms and conditions Credit transfer

Credit transfers and payments can be made in many different ways: in Netbank, at a payment ATM or at a branch.

To make a credit transfer you need the payee's account number in the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) format. A credit transfer is always transmitted at the price of a domestic payment.

Your benefits:

  • A credit transfer is transmitted to a European bank as quickly as to another domestic bank.
  • You can make the credit transfer in the same way irrespective of whether its destination is Finland or another country in Europe.
  • The pricing is the same as in domestic payments.
  • The credit transfer amount is transferred to the payee’s account in full.
As a self service

In Netbank and at a payment ATM

In a credit transfer made between accounts with Nordea the funds are transmitted immediately between the sender and the recipient. If the credit transfer is going to another Finnish or European bank, Nordea will transmit it for the following banking day.

Please note that payments to other banks will be transmitted on banking days only. Payments made at weekends or on midweek holidays will not be transmitted to other banks until the following banking day.

Credit transfers between Nordea Bank Finland Plc's account customers will also be entered at weekends and on midweek holidays.

How to use the additional payment confirmation service

You can make an additional payment confirmation either by an SMS or by calling. The messages and calls are free of charge for customers when using the service in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions.

SMS service

You can make the additional payment confirmation by an SMS from Finnish subscriptions with Aina's, Academica's, Cubio's, Dicame's, DNA's, Elisa's, Fujitsu's (subscriptions operating in Elisa's network), Saunalahti's, Sonera's, TDC Song's, Telefinland's and Ålands Mobiltelefon's subscription as well as with most foreign subscriptions supporting SMS services. The SMS service is available 24 hours a day, just like Netbank.

Register for the SMS service

You must first register for the SMS service before you can confirm payments by an SMS.

You can register in Netbank, under Mobile services/SMS confirmation. You will be asked to confirm the mobile phone number suggested by the system. After selecting the mobile phone number, select: All services (also the extra cover which requires confirmation). If Netbank does not suggest a phone number, you can register for the SMS service by calling the Additional Confirmation Service, tel 0800 165 656, during the opening hours of Nordea Customer Service (Mon - Fri 10.00 - 16.30, free of charge in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions).

The mobile phone numbers suggested by Netbank are those you have registered in Netbank and those you have given to the bank as well as numbers which Nordea has acquired from a third party who uses information updated by Suomen Numeropalvelu Oy (national phone directory service). The phone numbers are only used in Netbank in the alerts and confirmations you have registered for.

SMS "A" confirms a payment

Additional confirmation will be asked in Netbank for payments considered exceptional.

The bank will send an additional confirmation request to you by an SMS. To confirm the payment, you must send an SMS including the letter A. The system will immediately send you an acknowledgment message as a reply to that message. If a payment waiting for additional confirmation has not been confirmed by an SMS by the end of the following banking day, the payment will expire.

Confirmation by phone

If you do not use the SMS service, you must confirm the payment by calling the Additional Confirmation Service, tel 0800 165 656 (free of charge in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions). The telephone service is open Mon - Fri 10.00 - 16.30.

Additional payment confirmation
QuestionAnswer
1. How do I activate the additional payment confirmation service? All Finnish personal customers using Nordea's Netbank are automatically covered by the additional confirmation service. If you wish to make the additional confirmation of your payments by an SMS, you must register for the SMS service in Netbank.
2. I don't have a mobile phone and I don't intend to purchase one, either. How can I make the additional confirmation? You can also make the additional confirmation by calling 0800 165 656, (Mon - Fri 10.00 - 16.30, free of charge in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions).
3. Should I identify myself with my access codes when I call the Additional Confirmation Service at 0800 165 656?Yes, for security reasons. You may also be asked additional questions to confirm your identity.
4. Which subscriptions can be used for the SMS confirmation and what does it cost? The SMS service is compatible with Finnish subscriptions from Academica, Dicame, DNA, Elisa, Fujitsu (subscriptions operating in Elisa's network), Saunalahti, Sonera, TDC Song, Telefinland and Ålands Mobiltelefon as well as with most foreign subscriptions supporting SMS services. Text messages sent and received with Finnish subscriptions are free of charge. You should consult your telecom operator to get the prices for text messages sent when abroad.
5. Can I confirm payments by SMS abroad, too? Is the confirmation free of charge also in that case?Yes. An SMS received abroad is free, but a confirmation SMS you send abroad will cost you as much as a normal SMS sent when abroad.
6. JIf I have transferred my calls to another phone, will the confirmation messages be transferred as well? The text messages will not be transferred even if the calls will be.
7. Does Nordea automatically know my phone number or must I give it to the bank separatelyNordea has acquired the mobile phone numbers of its customers from a register maintained by Suomen Numeropalvelu Oy. The register does not contain unlisted numbers and corporate subscriptions. Every Netbank customer must confirm the phone number suggested in Netbank or, when necessary, give the correct number by calling 0800 165 656 (Mon - Fri 10.00 - 16.30, free of charge in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions).
8. If my number changes or my subscription is closed, will Nordea be automatically informed of it or can a confirmation request be sent to an incorrect subscription without Nordea knowing?Nordea is not automatically informed of changes in mobile phone numbers. Please notify the bank of any changes by calling 0800 165 656 (Mon - Fri 10.00 - 16.30, free of charge in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions) or make a change notice through Netbank. If the information is not updated, any additional confirmation requests will not go through and payments may be delayed.
9. At which payment stage will I be asked the additional confirmationThe additional confirmation is asked after you have confirmed the payment as usual. If you have already registered for the SMS service, you will get at the same time a message asking you to additionally confirm the message by replying A to the message. If you have not yet registered for the SMS service, you can do it after the additional confirmation request shows in Netbank (provided that the mobile phone number suggested by the service is correct).
10. How quickly do I have to confirm a payment by an SMS?

A payment made in Netbank and requiring an additional confirmation must be confirmed by an SMS or by phone by the end of the banking day following the day on which you entered the payment (by 24.00). If the additional confirmation is not received by the deadline, the payment will expire.

Examples:

  •  A Netbank payment is made on Thursday at 16.00. Additional confirmation must be made on Friday by phone by 16.30 or by an SMS by 24.00.
  •  A Netbank payment is made on Friday at 21.00. Additional confirmation must be made on Monday by phone by 16.30 or by an SMS by 24.00.
11. Will a confirmation message be sent only once per each payment requiring additional confirmation?Yes.
12. What if I send an incorrect confirmation message, such as B. Will the service point out to me that the confirmation is not correct? The service will send you an SMS stating that your reply was incorrect. In this case, you must re-reply with an "A" to the original additional confirmation request
13. I accidentally deleted a confirmation message. How can I get the message again? You can ask for re-sending of the message in Netbank.
14. Where do I get support and more information about this service? On our website at nordea.fi, from Nordea Customer Service, tel 0200 70 000 (local rates apply), and at Nordea branches as well as by calling the Additional Confirmation Service, tel 0800 165 656, (Mon - Fri 10.00 - 16.30, free of charge in Finland with Finnish mobile phone subscriptions).
15. Why does Nordea request additional confirmation for certain payments?Additional confirmation is in the best interests of the customer as payment security is increased when the confirmation is made with another device. In addition, confirmation with a text message can be made around the clock.
