Responsible Investing (RI)

RI principles and investment operations

Nordea takes into account the social and environmental aspects, and governance issues in many of its products and services. This trend is spearheaded by the Nordea funds, in particular.

The Nordea funds have employed the principles of Responsible Investing (RI) since November 2007.

The fund management companies which belong to the Nordea Group have signed the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment, UNPRI. Issues related to the environmental and social responsibility and corporate governance have thus been taken as an integrated part of the funds' investment operations.

Nordea is a true frontrunner as it is one of the first and largest Nordic banks to engage itself in the process of dealing with the ethical issues related to the companies' business practices.

  • All the Nordea funds apply the principles of responsible investing in accordance with the norms laid down by UN in regard to the social and environmental responsibility and ownership steering. The investments of our funds are monitored twice a year using the so-called norm-based method.
  • Moreover, certain funds have established another level of responsible investing in the fund’s portfolio management, meaning the sector-based screening criteria which have been adopted in the selection process of investment targets.
