Read the annual report on responsible investment

11.3.2011 Can you apply the principles of responsible investment without compromising the returns? How can we promote the environmental and social responsibility and good corporate governance of companies operating in the emerging markets?

In 2007, Nordea signed, as the first Nordic bank, the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investments (UNPRI). We believe that the principles of responsible investment must be part of a company's everyday operations. This is why all our funds use the norm-based screening method in their investment policy.

When you invest in Nordea's funds, you can be sure that you automatically invest in compliance with the principles of responsible investment. In the Report on Responsible Investment you can read more about how the environmental and social responsibility and good corporate governance issues are taken into account in our investments and what concrete changes we have achieved through our active ownership policy.

During 2010, the focus on ESG analysis has been our largest holdings, mainly in the Nordic countries but also globally. In line with our objectives for 2010
we have finalised ESG analysis for a majority of our 50 largest holdings. We have also met about 40 of our largest holdings and discussed how they manage relevant ESG risks and capitalise on ESG opportunities.
