Initial identification of customer
The initial identification of a customer is always done in person. Nordea identifies an applicant of a means of identification by verifying his or her identity primarily from a valid passport granted by an authority of a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland or San Marino. The applicant's identity can also be verified on a case-by-case basis from an identity card acceptable as a travelling document granted an authority of a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland or San Marino.
The initial identification always requires that Nordea is capable of reasonably ascertaining the genuineness of an identity certificate presented.
In addition to the identification certificates mentioned above, the identity of a customer can be also be verified from a driving licence granted by a Finnish authority after 1 October 1990. A foreign driving licence or a driving licence replaced by a Finnish authority for a foreigner is not accepted as a document for identity verification when granting a strong electronic identification.
