By direct debit

National direct debit will be given up in Finland. Banks and invoicers recommend the e-invoice as a replacement for direct debit.

When you add the automatic payment feature to the e-invoice, payment of invoices will be as easy as by direct debit. Furthermore, the e-invoice has several supplementary services for invoice management. One of them is confirmation of e-invoices by text message, which makes the e-invoice a more present-day and even faster method of paying invoices than direct debit.

Many companies already invoice both consumers and companies by e-invoice. A list of invoicers offering the e-invoice is available on Nordea's website. Check from the list whether a company sending invoices to you is able to send e-invoices. If your invoices is on the list and you use Netbank, you can order an e-invoice right away: E-invoicers.

We are planning a new direct payment service for customers who do not use Netbank. This service will function in the same way as the national direct debit. A direct payment is automatically debited to your account on the due date and you will receive a notification of the invoice to your home address beforehand.

The Federation of Finnish Financial Services has published further information on the national direct debit and its termination schedules: http://www.fkl.fi/Opens new window.

National direct debit will terminate on 31 January 2014.
