Credit or Debit

With Nordea Credit/Debit combination card you can choose to pay for your purchases and withdraw cash in Finland and abroad,

either from the card credit (Credit) or directly from your bank account (Debit).

Your MasterCard or Visa combination card will automatically be changed into a credit/debit combination card the next time your card is renewed. The reason for the renewal may be, for example, the end of the validity of the card or a broken card.

Payments in Finland and abroad

You can pay with a combination card in all shops that carry the Visa or MasterCard symbol.

  • You can choose to make payments either directly from your bank account (debit) or from your credit facility. This is possible abroad if the payment is made at a chip card terminal and signed with the card PIN.
  • If the merchant does not have a chip card terminal, shopping abroad is charged to the credit.
  • In Finland you can pay directly from the bank account when the merchant accepts payments with Visa or MasterCard.

If a payment terminal has a chip card reader,

  • enter the card into the reader, choose the payment method (credit/debit),
  • check the total sum of the purchase and
  • accept payment by keying in your PIN.
    The PIN replaces your signature.

Cash withdrawals at ATMs and branches

With the combination card you can withdraw cash at ATMs in Finland and abroad either from the credit or your bank account. The services of ATMs vary from country to country. The ATM will indicate the available alternatives. When abroad, you can now also withdraw cash from credit or bank account at branches carrying the Visa or MasterCard symbol.

Shop online, pay from bank account

The new combination card allows you to pay for Internet shopping directly from your bank account. When entering payment information, give your debit card number (on the back of the card), card validity and, if requested, the three-digit CVC2/CVV2 security code of your debit card. The security code is located to the right of the debit card number.
