SEPA

SEPA brings changes to your company

Domestic payments were earlier transmitted in a payment transmission system maintained by Finnish banks. The system was replaced as of 1 November 2011 by a European solution. This change affects both invoice payments and salary payments.

In the new European system one precondition for payment transmission is giving the account number in the IBAN format. It is not possible to transmit the information needed with the services used in Finland (invoice payment service and salaries and pensions).

In Nordea companies have various alternatives for making SEPA payments. The easiest of these solutions is Corporate Netbank.

The Finnish corporate and banking community has together agreed on a national SEPA transition period, which in Finland ended on 31 October 2011.
