15.10.2010Nordea and the Society of Finnish Professional Foresters presented the TV programme “Vihreä Kulta” with the Vuoden Metsäteko Award. The award is a tribute to important work for promoting the forestry sector. Vihreä Kulta is a programme dealing with forestry issues on the MTV3 channel on Saturdays.
There are more and more Nordea’s customers who live in big cities and have inherited forest but have neither knowledge nor experience of forestry. The Vihreä Kulta programme offers urban forest owners an easy channel for getting information in their own living room.
Since 1995 the Society of Finnish Professional Foresters and Nordea have rewarded an unprejudiced and visible deed that promotes forestry or general knowledge of Finnish forests with the Vuoden Metsäteko Award. The award consists of a pecuniary reward of EUR 2,000 and a wooden work of art by artist Voitto Rahkonen.
The first award went to the Finnish Forest Museum and Science Centre Lusto in 1995. ENOEnvironment Online, an international online school supporting sustainable development, won the award last year.
